Southern Lights Dance Company
Southern Lights Dance Company was established in 2009 by the Dance and Physical Theatre Trust to provide dance opportunities to professional contemporary dancers living in the South Island.
The company is unique (in Christchurch and the South Island) as a commissioning repertory contemporary dance company with no specific artistic director’s vision to drive it.
The idea behind the company is that each year it commissions new works that go in to repertoire on the same core company of dancers. As time passes these works will be toured around New Zealand festivals and overseas.
Southern Lights Dance Company prides itself on being an all inclusive organisation. The work is created by choreographers and dancers who are amongst the best in their field and from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.
