Fringe Festival Loves Dancers!
It’s time to start planning your involvement in the 2012 Dunedin Fringe Festival which runsfrom 15-25 March. A detailed Artist Information Pack is available on the Festival website which explains everything you need to know about how the Festival works, what changes have been made to the registration process, what venues you can apply for and funding options for your show.
We are happy to report that the Dunedin Fringe has once again received funding from Creative NZ which will help generate a huge amount of exciting events that add depth and vitality to the 2012 Festival programme. The funding will be used to provide grants to artists to develop new works and to tour works to Dunedin. Artists who intend registering an event can apply for funding now! Each class of approximately 30 students will learn one dance style taught by a local dance professional. Dance teachers include Lisa Wilkinson of RASA School of Dance, John Stanway of Ceroc Dunedin, Vivienne Brooks of Vivienne Lees Dancesport Academy, and Ana Martino who is teaching salsa. At the end of the programme the four schools will come together for a performance showcase to an audience of family and friends.

We're baaaaack!!
Well, it's been a rough few weeks, but SIDN Christchurch, and the DAPHT office is slowly but surely getting back up and running. After losing our office (again!) we have now relocated to a new space in C-Block in CPIT, on Madras Street and have hit the ground running. We're still operating on bare bones, but the good news is that WE ARE BACK UP AND RUNNING and all our activities (Dancing Like the Stars, Body Festival, SIDN) will continue as planned (with a few minor changes).
In the midst of all of this, I need to Introduce myself to everyone! My name is Daz Martin, and I have just started as the SIDN Coordinator for Christchurch, and Project Coordinator for the Dance and Physical Theatre Trust. It has been quite the baptism of fire, coming in following the earthquake but I'm settling in and starting to get a handle on things.
