2012: It's all go!

Well... didn't January disappear quickly! It's all systems are go in the DAPHT office at the moment and the year is shaping up to be a great one! All our projects are well on the way to being established for the year! This post will give you an idea of how things are all shaping up for Body Festival as well as our other projects for 2012!

Fringe Festival Loves Dancers!
It’s time to start planning your involvement in the 2012 Dunedin Fringe Festival which runsfrom 15-25 March. A detailed Artist Information Pack is available on the Festival website which explains everything you need to know about how the Festival works, what changes have been made to the registration process, what venues you can apply for and funding options for your show.
We are happy to report that the Dunedin Fringe has once again received funding from Creative NZ which will help generate a huge amount of exciting events that add depth and vitality to the 2012 Festival programme. The funding will be used to provide grants to artists to develop new works and to tour works to Dunedin. Artists who intend registering an event can apply for funding now! Read the eligibility and assessment criteria in the Artist Information Pack for more info.

Media Release: Inaugural ‘Dancing Like The Stars’ event to take place in four Dunedin schools.

A new primary school dance and performance programme called Dancing like The Stars will be trialed in Dunedin starting Monday 9 May 2011.
Over the next nine weeks four Dunedin primary schools, Bradford, Brockville, Caversham and College Street will be participating involving over 100 students. Each class of approximately 30 students will learn one dance style taught by a local dance professional. Dance teachers include Lisa Wilkinson of RASA School of Dance, John Stanway of Ceroc Dunedin, Vivienne Brooks of Vivienne Lees Dancesport Academy, and Ana Martino who is teaching salsa. At the end of the programme the four schools will come together for a performance showcase to an audience of family and friends.

Hundreds of Students take to the dance floor with Dancing Like The Stars!
Well, it has come around really fast, but another round of Dancing Like the Stars is well under way now. 2011 sees Dancing Like the Stars is running in 13 schools across Christchurch and this year, for the first time, we have 4 schools taking part in Dunedin!!
