Dancing Like the Stars is under way!
on 04 May 2011
Hundreds of Students take to the dance floor with Dancing Like The Stars!
Well, it has come around really fast, but another round of Dancing Like the Stars is well under way now. 2011 sees Dancing Like the Stars is running in 13 schools across Christchurch and this year, for the first time, we have 4 schools taking part in Dunedin!!
I have spent the first half of this week visiting the Christchurch schools, meeting the Dance Tutors, School Teachers and students - even getting my groove on a little with the kids, and I have to say, I AM IMPRESSED! The kids all seem to be enjoying it and getting in to the different dances! Some of the progress they have made in the first week is phenomenal, and I'm looking forward to seeing them show there stuff on the stage for the final shows in the Celebration Centre at the end of June! (Also, a good reminder to me that I need to get back into classes again!)
Other than this, I've been busy starting to (re)programme the workshops for Body Festival - it's going to be a good one! (If Vanessa had contacted you about teaching a workshop at the Art Gallery this year, please contact of me, I still haven't heard back from a lot of people! email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We've also (finally) found out about possible access to our old Office on Manchester Street! We've heard that the building is getting pulled down on Tuesday next week, so we should be able to gain access on Monday with the demolition crew in order to retrieve essential items (pretty much everything!). Some of you will appreciate what a huge thing this will be, as SO much of our information/records/files is stuck in there!
While it will be sad to see the old office go, we have settled in well in the new 'Creative Hub' at CPIT, and we are making some great connections with other the arts organisations around us - WATCH THIS SPACE for some amazing collaborative projects that willl come out of this!
Hope you are all doing well, and keeping warm now that the tempurature has started to drop! Keep those dancing shoes on, and keep moving to keep warm!
Caio!
