2012: It's all go!

Well... didn't January disappear quickly! It's all systems are go in the DAPHT office at the moment and the year is shaping up to be a great one! All our projects are well on the way to being established for the year! This post will give you an idea of how things are all shaping up for Body Festival as well as our other projects for 2012!

BODY FESTIVAL

After swearing we'd tone things down after the behemoth of a festival that we delivered last year - it looks like this year will be BIGGER again! We're really excited to be delivering FOUR weeks of top-notch dance performance, workshops and public events! This year the festival is running from 21 September - 14 October.

This year we're going for a higher participation level, with a slightly smaller performance programme but an increased number of public events - mum's the word at this stage, but be sure to keep an eye out, these events are going to BLOW YOUR MIND!

Head to thebody.co.nz to sign up to the Body Festival mailing list, to be kept up-to-date with goings on and be the first to hear when programme details are announced!

DANCING LIKE THE STARS

Dancing like the Stars - our primary school dance project - is starting to take shape, we've got our tutors confirmed and are in the process of scheduling the school's lessons. We're excited to have the fabulous Aaron Gilmore, dancer extrodinaire, confirmed as MC once again and to be having the performances this year in the Aurora Centre! This project, which provides dance lessons free-of-charge to low-decile schools is truely amazing, and we're looking forward to seeing it run again!

SOUTH ISLAND DANCE NETWORK

Change is a-foot with SIDN - as you may be aware, as of this Friday, Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ) with full support from DAPHT, is taking over in supporting the Dunedin dance sector. Kathryn Olcott will be DANZ's Dunedin Dance Development Coordinator and will continue the work started by DAPHT through SIDN. We will be working with Kathryn and DANZ in getting them set up in Dunedin.

The SIDN website/newsletter will continue as normal, however it will now be managed through the DAPHT's Christchurch office.

DANCE PROJECT COORDINATOR VACANCY

If you like the sound of the projects above - and want to be an integral part of their delivery, as well as supporting the South Island's dance sector, then you might be interested in applying for a vacancy we have here at DAPHT! Daz (i.e. ME!) is off to pastures new at the end of the month - so we are currently advertising for someone to fill his role as DANCE PROJECT COORDINATOR.

If you are interested, click here for more details! Applications are open until Monday 13 February, so get in quick!

TEMPORARY OFFICE

After loosing 2 (technically 3) offices due to the earthquake - we have since been given the boot again from our office at the Polytech! We are currently operating remotely from the Westpac Business Hub in Addington until our new central city office is ready to go!

That's about all the news for now! Hope you're all keeping well!
