Have you ever been so engaged in something that you annoy everone else by talking about it... constantly!

Have you ever been so engaged in something that you annoy everyone else by talking about it… constantly!  That’s been everyone’s experience of me as of late as I repeatedly chatter about our new South Island Dance Network website, which I have been talking about for the last month… scratch that…. last year!

It really has been a year in the making – from the initial funding application to CNZ Creative Communities way back in September 2009, through to approaching E2 Digital and forming a sponsorship partnership with Gary Lee (Managing Director of E2) and his team of talented designers (that’s you Stacey!).  I really can't rave enough about these guys, they're fantastic to deal with and extremely talented  - they also did the website for the 'World Buskers Festival'.

The redevelopment of the South Island Dance Network website has been a labour of love for me as we aim to extend the professional image of the network, and prepare the website for the inclusion of other regions in the South Island.  The website – with its new aesthetic design and capabilities – is ‘Phase 1’ of our full redevelopment plan.  At this stage, all data included on the website must be sent to either me, or Hahna (our Dunedin SIDN coordinator), and we enter it online.  Sometime during the next two years we aim to roll out ‘Phase 2’ which will enable people to manage their own content in terms of dance classes, dance events, etc.  In support of the website we're also aiming to get professional signage made next year to promote the Network at all our dance events, including the Body Festival.

I hope you all enjoy the new look and function of our website with its stronger 'search' capabilities and the inclusion of more information about the Dance and Physical Theatre Trust and the other dance projects we run - we're pretty busy people!

I laugh to myself as I write this... now that the website is online, Adam (Director of the Dance and Physical Theatre Trust) can breathe a sigh of relief as I will no longer be badgering him to “look at this,” while not really understanding why he doesn’t get as excited about websites and all that design stuff as much as I do!  What’s not to get excited about?  Hmmmmm….  I refuse to think I’m a geek – well maybe just a little bit!  LOL!

Anyway, here’s to the future of SIDN online and I look forward to ‘Phase 2’!
