Three of Christchurch’s premiere dance organisations began their journey through cordons, liquefaction and the loss of their studios. However, out of the ashes……..!
The Director of Canterbury Ballet, Taisia Missevich, had always had a vision of creating a ‘Centre’ where people of all ages could meet and experience many different dance genres with the additional benefit of excellence in dance tuition.
In-step Studios will celebrate its opening on April the 16th The Centre boasts five studios, a function centre, caterers kitchen, wardrobe and outstanding reception areas both indoor and out. The expansive one storey building is situated at the intersection of Wharanui and Blenheim Roads, just two minutes from Westfield Mall, with easy access and an abundance of parking.
The organizations working under the umbrella of In-step Studios will offer their own timetable of classes but will also offer an extensive co-ordinated adult program for dancers in their early teens to the more senior. You can find the very best tuition in Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Latin Dance and Hip Hop.
Drama classes will also be offered at the Centre by ACT Drama School directed by professional actor, director and choreographer, Caroline Claver. ACT Drama School, will be offering classes for young adults from 13 – 15yrs, 16– 18yrs and 18yrs and over.
Grace Deacon is reopening her “Dance Essentials” store andElizabeth Robinson will be offering a dance program for fun and fitness for senior citizens.
• In-step Studios: The center that doesn’t sleep: where passion for the most wonderful art form is kindled and ignited. Where fun leads to learning and confidence and where lifelong friendships are forged.
A place where another dimension of self is explored and developed and where those who wish to make dance their career can begin their path toward realizing their aspirations!
We are all very excited about working together and are committed to helping the people of Canterbury re-build their lives and achieve their goals!
